color journal :: markings on the whole

Yesterday, I marked the color journal quilt top for quilting. It will just be a diagonal grid to hold things together, so the feel of the quilt might be more like a light comforter.

Some details I noted on some of the individual blocks that maybe didn't turn out as well as I would have liked have just melted away now that all the blocks are together as the whole. I like this tidy resting spot in the middle of all the color.

    1. Thank you, Jude. I am getting excited about the possibility of covering up with this quilt before it gets too warm to want to. I pinned and started hand quilting today.

  2. Quilts need to have designs that work as whole, but they are also experienced close up. Your stitching will be fascinating to the person lucky enough to wrap up in this.

  3. you are stitching through all the layers by hand? do you use a hoop like Jude is with her Home quilt?

    1. I am, Mo. So far so good. No hoop but it is pinned with those big quilting safety pins. used masking tape to secure the back fabric to the floor, then laid a sheet of flannel for batting and the quilt top as top layer and pinned through all. It's secure and still mobile that way.
