Algae-ish Sunbursts
Another little sunprint - still playing around with my leftover paint from this weekend. Admiring the algae every other day on our evening walk had me thinking of the lovely green stuff. I sunpainted the pattern using beads on green fabric with dark blue paint. I drew in some details using markers.
Sun Painting
Sunny days always lead to a little sun painting. I use Setacolor Transparent Fabric Paints. My son loves to do this with me and he is a pro at 5 years old. He likes to make things that look tie-dyed and we sew the patches he makes onto t-shirts. He said while we were working on these this weekned, "It's so much fun, I just can't stop doing it."
So much fun. No matter how many of these I make, I am always thinking of just one more thing to try...
This site explains the technique along with a few others...

New Start with Beige Shirt Cuffs
All that talk about green and I put together something with no green at all - but I will add the green with thread maybe...
The little drawing was a rather unsuccessful gel medium transfer that I reworked with Pigma pens. My Mom told me that a lot of the fabric scraps I inherited from my Grandma probably belonged to my Great Grandma - and that she may have ordered scraps from shirting companies. I came across the beige strips - the vertical ones on the long sides - and they look like they would have been shirt cuffs - I like the round corners. I think the two other beige pieces are shirting scraps too.
Now I HAVE to finish my other project - before I work more on anything new - then looking forward to quilting with no deadlines...

Need More Green
Needing to work on and finish this one...
But digging around in all of the green -
has me daydreaming of making something with these...

Found
These circles resurfaced this morning while I was tidying my sewing room. I made this at least 3 years ago. I love this green - the circles are so quiet - it's all so simple. Tattered little tracing paper scribble stitched on. Just so interesting that I am drawn to this more than some of the things I have made more recently. More of the same thing that is always challenging to me - I like the sketch more than the finished piece, the drips more than the painting, the smears more than the lines...

Quilting in Flip Flops
I don't have any new photos - this quilt shown above doesn't look like this anymore - I have made lots of progress on it. I have just not had the chance to take photos of the changes. I have been carrying this project with me to the park - I stitch while the boys play and I work on it on the front porch in the rocking chair. So I thought this photo - with me in my flip flops ( see lower left hand corner - you can barely see my feet ) was almost appropriate.
We have been gardening - flower and vegetable, packaging our maple syrup, entertaining friends and family, rearranging a pass thru room to be this summer's craft/science experiment room.. and I have also been cleaning my sewing room.
I will have more to post soon - I have not forgotten...
