Red Runner Sampler

I am working out some stitch ideas on a runner for the kitchen table. It is very red and our kitchen is pale blue - so I like the two together.

I have tried to build this into a durable and washable little quilt. Cotton front and back and flannel as bat.

I am looking forward to watching the ways it might change with lots of use and washings.

There are two identically pieced ends to this little quilt - both with the four chicken print square nine patches at the end. I have not finished quilting this end yet - but am already thinking I may quilt the other pieced area on the opposite end very differently - maybe all curves.

  1. It's lovely and so nice to see your progression. The chicken fabric is gorgeous.

    1. Hi Sharon. Thank you. The little chickens or bird fabric belonged to my grandma. I don't use it much because there isn't a lot of it - but eight small squares of it for this seemed just right.

    1. Well I think I like the orderliness in the stitches too - because in many other areas I am not at all orderly. You should have seen this kitchen table before I cleared it off for the photo.

I have bunches and strands of embroidery floss, fabric scraps and books all around my sewing chair. It's a little nest of chaos and I am quietly quilting these straight orderly lines!
